Our Mission

Yoga for All.

Healing for the Community.

Bumble Bee Yoga Community (BBYC) operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to mental wellness and suicide prevention.

When you join a class at our public studio, your practice directly fuels our mission: to provide free, trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness outreach to children and adults struggling with mental health challenges in the Ft. Worth area.

Meet Our Founder:

Dr. Lori Atkins-Williamson

A Physician's Calling

In 2018, Dr. Lori observed a distressing trend: the rising rates of depression and suicide, particularly among her professional peers and in the youth of our community. Knowing that yoga profoundly nurtures the mind, body, and soul, she was propelled into action.

Her vision was to leverage the healing power of trauma-informed yoga and meditation as a direct tool for mental wellness and suicide prevention.

From Practice to Community

For four years, Dr. Lori personally led specialized training, workshops, and classes. This hands-on work culminated in the activation of BBYC as an entire non-profit organization, extending our reach across the Fort Worth community—including hospital systems and schools.

With the opening of our first brick-and-mortar studio in early 2023, BBYC created a safe, physical space for all to experience the life-giving benefits of this practice. This public studio directly supports our core mission: providing specialized outreach and yoga programming for vulnerable children and young adults.

Dr. Lori's vision is backed by an incredible Executive Board and dedicated Teaching Team. Together, they share the urgency of delivering these vital tools to empower our youth to turn suffering into power.

Dr. Lori Atkins-Williamson is a physician, a devoted mother of two, and the visionary founder of the Bumble Bee Yoga Community (BBYC). She brings a unique blend of medical expertise and deep knowledge of mind-body healing to our mission.

Jesica Ortiz
Studio Director

Jesica Ortiz is our studio manager and yoga practitioner. Growing up, she lived all over—New York, Japan, North Carolina, California, Florida, and now Texas. That constant movement shaped her perspective and planted seeds of curiosity and adaptability, both of which she carries into her yoga practice.

Her journey with yoga began in 2020, during the height of the pandemic and right after the birth of her daughter. She was navigating postpartum depression and desperately searching for something to help her feel whole again. "With a background in dance, yoga felt like a natural next step—something that could challenge , ground me, and help me reconnect with my body." She dove in headfirst and hasn't looked back. What started as a way to cope has grown into a deep passion. She is

especially drawn to the movement-to-breath connection—those flowing, intentional transitions that create a strong, unified body experience. "Yoga has gifted me with strength in every sense—physically, emotionally, and mentally."

She is currently working on my 200HR yoga certification and look forward

to one day sharing this incredible practice with others. Her hope is to offer what yoga gave to her: healing, empowerment, and a way back to herself.
